Requirements

 

Doctoral Programme

Ph.D candidates must produce the transcript of a Master’s degree earned at an accredited public or private higher education establishment, in the same discipline as the Ph.D applied for, or in a related discipline.

Admission is conditional upon the Graduate School’s approval, based on the candidate’s academic record, the merits of his/her reserch proposal, and estimated chances of bringing a sustained effort such as a Ph.D dissertation to a successful conclusion. The selection process may include an interview designed to evaluate the candidate’s motivation, interests, career intent, and firmness of purpose.

Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL : minimum score of 240 [computer-based] or 587 [paper-based] or 95 [Internet-based] ; TOEIC : minimum score of 800 ; IELTS : minimum score of 6.5) is required if English is not a candidate’s native or working language – unless he or she has studied in English at secondary, undergraduate or graduate level, or has at least one year’s experience working in an English-speaking country. An intensive six-month period of introduction to English before entry to GGSG can be arranged on demand for candidates without sufficient command of that teaching language.

Master Degree Programmes

Applicants for admission to a Master programme must produce the transcript of a Bachelor’s degree earned at an accredited public or private higher education establishment, in a social science discipline, or with a major in social science.

Admission is conditional upon the Graduate School’s approval, based on the candidate’s academic record.

Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL : minimum score of 240 [computer-based] or 587 [paper-based] or 95 [Internet-based] ; TOEIC : minimum score of 800 ; IELTS : minimum score of 6.5) is required if English is not a candidate’s native or working language – unless he or she has studied in English at secondary or undergraduate level, or has at least one year’s experience working in an English-speaking country. Graduate Certificate Degree Programmes

Applicants for admission to a Certificate programme must produce the transcript of a Bachelor’s degree earned at an accredited public or private higher education establishment, in a social science discipline (or with mention of exposure to such a discipline).

Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL : minimum score of 240 [computer-based] or 587 [paper-based] or 95 [Internet-based] ; TOEIC : minimum score of 800 ; IELTS : minimum score of 6.5) is required if English is not a candidate’s native or working language – unless he or she has studied in English at secondary or undergraduate level, or has at least one year’s experience working in an English-speaking country. An intensive six-month period of introduction to English before entry to GGSG can be arranged on demand for candidates without sufficient command of that teaching language.

In all cases, the selection process admits qualified students without regard to gender, citizenship, identity, race, colour, religion, ethnic origin or disability.

Customized Training Periods

Admission will follow the requirements expressed by the entity with with trainees are affiliated.

Though no minimum test scores are required, English proficiency is strongly advised.
