Prof. Joël Jallais

 

Dr. Joël JallaisProf. Joël Jallais earned two BA degrees (literature, 1967 ; economics, 1968) and two doctorates (economics and business administration, 1973 ; management, 1976). His academic career started as a full professor at the Management Institute of the University of Rennes (1977), where he has taught ever since and was for nearly a decade (1980-89) head of the doctoral school of management. Upon retirement (2010), he became Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of business administration. He has published many books and articles in his area of research concentration.

Prof. Jallais was also involved in the screening and ranking of administrative elites at the école Nationale d’Administration (1992 through 1996) as well as of management professors at national level (1998, 2007, 2008). He was for a long while an appointed adviser to the Research Ministry’s Bureau of Science and Technology, editor-in-chief of the Recherche et Applications en Marketing journal, and book series editor with Atlas Publishers. He spent time as guest professor at Quebec’s Laval University, the federal universities of Rio Grande do Sul and Paraïba (Brazil), and the State universities of Kiev and Donetsk (Ukraine). He also taught at Morocco’s School of Diplomacy (Kenitra).

Finally (though this hardly exhausts his résumé), he has filled eminent administrative positions, first as director of research within the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (1997-2003), then as adviser and subsequently deputy chief of staff to the Recteur of the Paris Education Authority (2005-2009).

Joël Jallais is a Knight of the French Legion of Honour.
