Prof. David W. Bulla

 

Prof. David W. Bulla Dr. Bulla earned a B.A. (English) from the University of North Carolina (1983), an M.A. in journalism from Indiana University at Bloomington (2001), and a Ph.D in mass communications from the University of Florida at Gainesville (2004). He has taught journalism and communications successively at Iowa State University and Zayed University (United Arab Emirates).

Prof. Bulla has authored, co-authored or edited five books (the latest of which is Why Slavery Endures: Slavery Past, Present, and Future (Leiden, Brill Publishers, 2017). He also published countless book chapters, articles, and reviews on press and journalism history in the U.S. He serves as editor for the Journal of American Studies, and reviewer for numerous scholarly journals. Dr. Bulla was the winner of the Innovative Outreach to Scholastic Journalism Award (Chicago, 2008) and was honoured as the Educator of the Year by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (Boston, 2009).
