Research Centre for Security & Development

Centre de Recherche pour la Sécurité et le Développement

The Centre de Recherche pour la Sécurité et le Développement (CSD) is – like GGSG, and in partnership with it – a branch of the Geneva Foundation for Governance and Public Policy. It is designed as a forum centred on middle-eastern issues for scholars, diplomats, politicians in or out of office, international civil servants and accredited NGO activists.

Its aim is to contribute, through research and the education of judgement, to viable international relations in the region, to the prevention and resolution of conflict, the promotion of mutual understanding, a spirit of dialogue and negotiation, to sustainable development, and the management of major risks.

For that broad purpose, CSD organizes conferences and seminars to discuss context and trends, and explore possible solutions to the region’s woes. It does so by applying broader (societal, cultural, economic, environmental) perspectives than is usually the case when such problems are dealt with.

CSD is headed by Profs. Alexandre Vautravers (President) and Ibrahim Souss (Director General). It enjoys partnerships with other research centres dedicated to the study of the Middle East and its problems.
